Ives Story

In every scoop of Ives Cream there are six generations of family tradition. Through 150 years the Ives family has dedicated themselves to building a thriving family dairy.

When Alfred Ives established the farm in 1850, he was making a commitment to a way of life – to long hours in the barn, to trusting common sense and relying on good will, to the connection between hard work and lasting joy. In 1903 grandson Otto Ives purchased a Registered Holstein bull and two cows and had to bring them 45 miles by foot to get them home. In the 1940s, Albert Ives had to help his father Paris with the morning milk runs, gathering milk in metal cans and taking it to the local creamery. Change is slow to come to the farm. There is great wisdom in the “old” farming traditions, and great comfort in a connection to the land. Now, Katie and Alex Ives pack each serving of Ives Cream with the memories of their childhoods – the sweet hay, the muddy boots, the tender newborns, the morning chores, the evenings with family. Enjoy each spoonful slowly. It takes time to make great Ives Cream!

Dairy Farming

The Ives family’s Greenview Farms is a harmonious, peaceful, charming homestead – but it is also much more. It stands as a testament to sustainable agriculture and the rich cultural heritage of the family farm.

The Ives family is rooted in this land; land that they cultivated for generations, that nourishes their herd of Holsteins. The Ives believe in being good neighbors, respecting and revitalizing the environment, contributing to the community. They believe in the connection between how they operate Greenview Farms and the quality they achieve in their dairy products.
